Committee on Natural Resources and Energy, Sustainable Society’ at the House of Coucillors, The National
Diet
of Japan .
His comments following his appearance at the committee are as follows;
Among the many questions I received from the coucillors, it seemed there was quite a lot of interest over the
issue of a Basic Law on SDGs. There was also mention of examples from the other invited experts, that showed
advancement in policy making and implementation as a result of enactment of the Basic Law in areas of energy
and global warming, etc.
I hope the coucillors present at the research committee will take leadership in bringing together action
towards enactment of a Basic Law for the SDGs, so that Japan can take leadership towards advancement in
creating a sustainable society.
